Chefs are already obsessive about their craft and to take part in the Bocuse d’Or takes this obsession to another level.
Teams have to push their culinary knowledge to the extreme. Responding to the competition brief requires research, experimentation and calling up the experience of others. Many teams call upon the services of previous winners to help with the direction of their entry whilst the UK provides our team with access to the know-how of the best British chefs through our Academy Ambassador scheme.
This knowledge is never lost but shared with chefs to become new for years to come. Culinary trends are fast changing with each push forward raising the bar for culinary craft in the long term.
As Heston Blumenthal inspired new methods of cooking, there are many development chefs in kitchens all over the UK who are looking at food scientifically. The Bocuse d’Or UK works with these teams in order to create a platter and plate of food that impresses the esteemed jury with its taste and presentation and the watching world with its presentation.
